Admissions
Application deadline: Friday, 10 February 2012
The Dealing with the Past Course is sponsored by the Swiss FDFA. Application is on invitation only, either to you or your organisation/institution by the Swiss FDFA. Due to a limited number of places no independent/individual candidatures can be accepted.
Participants are asked to cover their own expenses for food and accommodation (ca. 2900 Swiss Francs) as well as for transportation. No scholarships are available to participants to attend the training.
The DwP Course Core Team will review the applications and make the selection of candidates in consultation with PD IV.
Entry requirements
The DwP Course is designed to train professionals from governmental and multilateral institutions as well as from national and international non-governmental organizations, working in countries or regions which are confronted with a legacy of massive human rights abuse. Diversity in terms of gender, geographical location, and professional background will be sought for. Participants must be fluent in spoken and written English.
The course is open to no more than 25 participants, representing the following focal groups:
- Selected staff of the FDFA (peacebuilding advisors, mid-career diplomats and SDC staff) and members of the Swiss Expert Pool for Civilian Peacebuilding (altogether approximately 50% of the participants);
- Civil servants and diplomats, representing governments that are engaging in a process of DwP with special emphasis on those countries in which the DP IV is engaged, as well as government experts from like-minded countries aiming to develop their expertise on the topic;
- Representatives of intergovernmental organizations (e.g. UNDP, OHCHR, OSZE, EU, AU) and of international and local non-governmental organizations
